Dream job.

1) Do you believe it is important to be passionate about your job? Think about adults you know well, and how they feel about their jobs.
2) What are you going to do with the rest of your life (career wise) and how are you going to get there? (Yes, it is certainly ok if you don't have concrete plans, but at least write about a possible path you could take)

Having a good understanding and knowledge about your job and being eager to learn the job makes you feel passionate about your job.
I believe it is very important to be passionate about your job. I have a friend who works in a tire shop doing repairs, putting on tires and changing them. Although he is good at what he does, he doesn’t thoroughly enjoy the people he works with, the hours he is scheduled therefore it makes him not want to attend and has no passion for that job. As far as the rest of my life plans I have chosen to pursue a college course in September in Criminal and Social Justice. This will give me knowledge towards a career in forensics and other paths to do with criminals. At this time I don’t have knowledge about the course however it intrigues me. This is something I have wanted for a long time. Thankfully I have all the support I need from my family and friends and appreciate the help from my school counselor. Upon my completion of schooling and finding my career plan I aim on having an awesome life.

Ten things I hate about you VS. Taming of the Shrew.

Ten things I hate about you vs. Taming of the Shrew.
The movie ten things I Hate about You, successfully captures the essence of the novel Taming of the Shrew. To start off, they make the characters fit the description very well. Katherine is absolutely perfectly matched with the character in the book. She is bitter and won’t let boys in her life. “I’ faith, sir, you shall never need to fear. I Wis it is not halfway to her heart. But if it were, doubt not her care should be To comb your noodle with a three-legged stool And paint your face and use you like a fool.” (Act1, Scene1) shows how much hatred she already has for Petruchio who says he is going to woo her. She wants nothing to do with him, much alike in the movie when Patrick is trying to take out Katherine. Neither of them wanted anything to do with their wanting to be lovers, eventually caving in and loving their partners. Or so we think they do. Both Petruchio and Patrick are in it at first for the money, they aren’t necessarily interested in the women. Throughout both the story and the movie Katherine’s younger sister Bianca wants to be able to marry/date a boy, but are not allowed because of Katherine’s stubborn desire to be without a man in her life. Also, as time passes it seems to reveal in the book and movie that the women start to fall for their wooers it seems.
As Katherine makes a speech in front of a whole dinner saying; “Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper,
Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee,  for thy maintenance commits his  body
To painful labour both by sea and land, To watch the night in storms, the day in cold,
Whilst thou liest warm at home, secure and safe; And craves no other tribute at thy hands
But love, fair looks and true obedience;” it definitely relates to the poem that Katherine reads out in front of her class about her love for Patrick.

Journal entry; CANDY by Kevin Brooks.

2. Your goals are to:a) personalize the story (make it more meaningful for you) b) gain insights about characters c) see the world in a different way
3. The main point of journal writing is to clarify your thoughts by committing your thinking to paper. Please choose a quote or a passage from your novel (include page number) and explain the connection you have made to it. How does the connection you have made help you understand more about the book?
" 'I would have worshipped the Devil if he'd answer my prayers.
But he didn't.
No one did.
There was no one there.' " (page. 151)
Joe wants to figure out where Candy, the girl of his dreams lives, so that he can try and help her. Joe is a young, naive and caring boy who falls in love with the wrong person. Many people meet someone and instantly think that they are the right person for them, or the right people to hang out with. In many cases jumping into the thought that they are the right crowd or people to hangout with isn't the best idea. In grade nine I didn't choose the best people to hangout with, not that they were bad people at all. It's just that they didn't exactly have the best reputation. I hung out with these people because my boyfriend was in that group, so it made me think that it was an alright group to hangout with. They were known as the 'skid' group, smoking and hanging out on the rock wall. The majority of people I hungout with smoked, but there was no way I was going to smoke. Later on after my boyfriend and I broke up, I started to hangout with different people. But people know everything it seems. With the new people I started to hangout with I had found a new interest, but it turns out that my rep from hanging out with the other group had gotten around and his parents found out and wouldn't let him hangout with me because they thought I was a bad kid for hanging out with them. When I actually had never done anything to make ME, myself a bad kid. In the end I basically realized that in the book and real life, when you get yourself in a situation, you're going to have to get yourself out of it by yourself because the majority of people would rather listen to hear-say information that probably is not entirely true.

Public display of disaffection.

  • A problem pointed out in the article would be that it is addicting, and takes away from personal and or business relationships. There is a certain amount of attention you start to give your phone more than people when it gets too much. "We're losing our one-on-one people skills and ability to engage in uninterrupted, focused conversations." I agree because, it's happened to me before. And I have done it to other people. Just like when somebody is asking me for directions to my house all the way out in Naramata and other people are texting me asking aswell, sometimes i get carried away trying to type it out to someone else, which is a lot harder than just verbally telling someone.
  •  Not everyone agrees. Pamela Eyring, director of the Protocol School of Washington, which teaches social manners to corporate and government clients, views public texting at an official event as “rude, period.” “It isn’t professional. It’s saying, ‘To hell with all of you,’ ” she says. “The guest of honour has a responsibility to be present in the moment.” I don't fully agree with that point. Many people have personal or family issues they often have to deal with, all the while doing school at the same time. Many people are excellent multi-taskers also, listening and texting comes off easily to some. Not all people mean to disrespect people by texting while others are talking, don't pay attention to them, it's simple.
  • Texting while driving is unacceptable in my opinion." in July, an Ontario Provincial Police campaign targeted distracted drivers, charging more than 2,000 people, with one woman so preoccupied with her cell she didn’t even notice the sirens flagging her down" that is getting ridiculous. There is no reason you can't pull over and go on your phone for a couple of minutes. It may take time away from you getting somewhere, but I am sure it will take a lot less time than if you were to not be paying attention and crash and die or injure yourself.
3. When are times when you believe that cell phones are acceptable? How about  Unacceptable? Should schools, movie theatres and other public places consider bans or cell phone jammers like Europe?

Some times when i feel that cellphones are acceptable are such times like; when you're just hanging out with friends, texting someone else who isnt there!, when you're walking somewhere to meet your friend, when you're in the common area at lunch, when you need to talk to your parents, or when you have to use it for school use. Unnaceptable times would be; when the teacher is talking I guess, when you have no service, when you're driving, when you're learning something, when you are teaching something, or when you are in serious situations that provide your attention. I do not think that we should have cell phone jammers like Europe. I truly think that if they were brought here that many kids would be upset. It would help some teachers yes, but it could cause a lot of kids to act up. Maybe some kids wouldn't go to school because they would think it is so ridiculous. It does kind of seem like a bit of a durastic change to put into public places like that. In many cases cell phones are actually useful or helpful.

My Super power.

One of the most entertaining super powers I could think of would be the ability to read minds. Knowing what people are thinking and the actions they are thinking of making would be very helpful and awesome at the same time. There could be the nicest looking person around standing near you, when really they are the one on Canada's most wanted, and he could be plotting something to kill you. If you could read his mind and figure out that he was thinking about killing you, you could get yourself out of the situation. Also, if someone else was in danger you could have the ability to save someone else from being harmed. Being able to read your teacher's mind also, would be pretty cool. If they are putting you on the spot in front of your whole class and you don't know the answer, all you would have to do is get into their minds and figure out the answer, and from them trying to make you look like you don't know what the answer is, you could look pretty smart. Say it's your best friends birthday and they won't tell you what they actually want, trying to be the good friend and just say to hangout with you... You could read their mind as to what they wanted for their birthday and make it even better than just hanging out with them. The most uncomfortable, annoying feeling to have is to not know if your parents are actually mad at you and thinking of giving you trouble for something, or if they are just going to let it slide this time. If you could read their minds, you could be ready for anything they throw at you. In addition to all of those reasons, you might have a friend who is dying to tell you one of their darkest secrets but is just too scared to tell you, you could easily just read their mind and maybe somehow bring it up to them in a more comfortable way for them so they could get it off their mind and feel better for telling you.
Those are a couple reasons why I think it would be an ideal super power to be able to read minds.
